New York Governor Chooses May 5 for Special Election, U.S. House, 11th District

On February 20, the last possible day, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo chose May 5 for the special election for the U.S. House seat, 11th district. See this story. He had been told by a U.S. District Court to either set a date by February 20, or explain why he wouldn’t do that. The Governor’s action ends the controversy and the lawsuit.

  1. I misunderstood your original post. Parties and candidates will have sightly over two months to hold the election. Plenty of time for parties with automatic ballot access. A little rushed for those requiring signatures on petitions. Another reason why all candidates should qualify by filing fees. Don’t know if this is one party district or not, and if it is, will not be much of an election. When robots go to the polls, and pull the only lever they’ve been programmed to pull, it’s not much of an election – rather more of a coronation.

  2. The area is one more pack/crack gerrymander district — USA Rep.

ALL of the top gangsters obvously have command ORDERS to take all action possible to delay the election of the gangsters in the other gang.

Elections have been WAR actions for decades.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  3. It’s a very competitive district. In 2014 it was the only New York city district to elect a Republican to the US House.
