  1. I am surprised that Travis Childress who held this position for slightly over one term is not running again. He ran and was elected in 2011 in a special election when incumbent Congressman Roger Wicker was appointed to complete the term of Trent Lott who resigned under protest from Black politicians because he had made a bad choice of words in complementing form U.S.Senator and Presidential candidate Strom Thurmond on his 100th birthday party.

Childress was then defeated by the late Alan Nunnelee, who died unexpected this past month due to brain surgery.

Childress had also ran against Thad Cochran in the 2014 General Election and some thought he might have pulled an upset, because Cochran had encourage Black Democrats to support him in the Republican Run-off. Cochran prevailed, and this special election again could give Childress a chance to run again, but after 3 unsuccessful runs, he may be simply tired and not have the money to run again.

Will be interested to see who the Democrats put up for this seat as well as the Republicans. I can remember the day when a Republican running in Mississippi was considered a joke. Not so today. The GOP in Mississippi is a White dominated party and what is left of the once great Democratic party of Mississippi is held by a handful of Blacks – and most of them are on the local level.

Some wanted to adopt a Single Primary System modeled after Louisiana, but most smart Republicans realized they have the upper hand by keeping the system just the way it is. Barring some surprise, the GOP should keep the congressional seat.

  2. Abolish the USA Senate or have P.R. in it.

Then DIVIDE lots of States —
i.e. have about 3-5 more de facto black controlled States in the south.

Magically see if folks rush to them if the resulting laws and governments are better than the old Donkey now Elephant white gerrymander regimes.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.
