On March 3, the Pennsylvania Prohibition Party made a donation of $3,678 to the Pennsylvania Ballot Access Coalition. The money is to be used to help the effort to pass SB 495, the bill to improve ballot access for minor parties and independent candidates. Thanks to Jim Hedges for this news.

How were they able to raise that much money? The party is at the level of just being a civics lesson.
They have endowments from long ago that produce an ongoing revenue stream.
While I appreciate their contribution to the cause, I find it odd that the Prohibition Party does not even seem to bother to get ballot access in states where it is relatively easy. Other than Louisiana where Jack Fellure only had to pay $500 to get on the ballot in 2012 (he got 518 votes there), he did not do the same for the same fee in Colorado. In Mississippi and Vermont, the party apparently only needs to be organized for ballot access. Only 275 signatures were needed in Tennessee and 800 in New Jersey? Those states should be easy pickings with all candidates on the ballot.
If they are wise and understanding people, they’ll give up on the pipe dream of prohibition and donate those on-going revenues to ballot access efforts. That’d be best.
