SIx Congressional Candidates from 2014, All Under Age 30, Publish Op-Ed in USA Today Urging Young People to Run for Office

USA Today has this op-ed, authored by six 2014 congressional candidates, all of whom are ages 18-29. The op-ed points out that only 18% of that age group believe that electoral activism is worthwhile. The op-ed also points out that Congress has no members under age 30, and not very many under age 40. Among the six authors are two Republicans, two Democrats, one Libertarian, and one independent.

  1. Voter in the 18- 29 age group are too liberal, and may be the key the Democratic Party needs to bring back success in certain elections.

Most 18-29 age group voters have no problem with Same Sex Marriage, Abortion, and a host of other liberal causes. This is going to present a challenge for the GOP as it tries to lure this same age group into its camp.

If the GOP adapts policies which pacify the 19-29 age group, this could cause a revolution among veteran voters within the GOP. It could result in seeing a strong 3rd party emerge, though its doubtful the Constitution[al]Party has the leadership ability to lure those voters from the GOP.

The day will soon come when speaking out against Same Sex Marriage will be the same as speaking out against Integration. People have changed their views over the decades, and the parties are going to have to decide what course of action they must make to appeal to enough voters to win an election.

It is a different day in American Politics!
