New Lawsuit Filed Against Texas Photo Voter-ID Law

On September 17, the Texas NAACP and the Mexican American Caucus of the Texas House filed a new lawsuit against the 2011 law that requires voters at the polls to show one of six types of government photo-ID. The 2011 law still hasn’t been implemented.

The new lawsuit is Texas State Conference of NAACP v Steen, in the Southern District, Corpus Christi Division. This case will almost surely be combined with the lawsuit filed by the federal government in August against the same law, which is called U.S.A. v State of Texas. Here is the complaint in the new case. It argues that the law violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, and the First and Fourteenth Amendments.

  1. Photo ID has already been used, including a special city council election in Edinburg.

The lawsuit by the Obama administration has already been consolidated with another case. It doesn’t make sense that the NAACP and MALC didn’t seek to intervene in that lawsuit.

“Mexican American Legislative Caucus” (MALC) is the correct spelling of the caucus.

  2. It would be cheaper and easier to issue to each voting precinct a six by three foot poster, colored in a generally accepted Caucasian tone, with the following text printed upon it| “Your skin must be no darker than this to vote.”

  3. How many New Age folks have ANY *allegiance* to the nearly dead USA Constitution ???

i.e. how many communist Donkeys (who have NO such allegiance) want permanent control of the USA via any means necessary (esp. using armies of illegal invaders to be voters in marginal gerrymander districts) ???

i.e. How soon before Civil WAR II starts — when some control freak monster shoots off its EVIL mouth ???

For once back up your allegations on this matter with some facts. Give us any proof to the assertion “illegals” are voting in numbers greater than you can count on your four paws.

  5. Barry Scary,

If someone wanted to keep the slaves on the plantation, unable to drive a car, fly on a plane, cash a check, buy liquor or cigarettes, or engage in any economic activity other than cash-only illegal or quasi-legal transactions, they’d make sure that they didn’t have an ID.

Why do you want to keep the slaves on the plantation?

  6. Jimbo

Why do you hate blacks and Latinos? Would you let one screw your daughter if he got a photo ID and voted Republican?

  7. Would you watch the?

Hey – how about a beer? Post your telephone number and address and I’ll get in touch. Maybe you can bring your bud Demp Rep. He seems to think along the same lines as you.
